"In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference. In 20, you will see the difference. And in 30, you'll be on your way to having a whole new body." Joseph Pilates

If there's one exercise style that has taken the fitness world by storm in the last few years it's pilates. Everyone is doing it — from dancers to footballers — and the benefits are said to be as much mental as they are physical.

Essentially, it's an exercise style that involves training your muscles to improve posture and alignment. By focusing on your core strength, you enhance the little muscles in the body so you're better able to support the larger ligaments, tendons and joints.

One of the best things about the Pilates method of exercise is that it can be adjusted to fit the needs and interests of all kinds of people and that's why we believe that Pilates is the perfect exercise for everyone here at Studio Samsara! Whether you have shoulder, back, hip or knee pain, you are a gym junkie, a footballer, a grandparent or you are just looking for a fun and highly-effective workout we will have a Pilates class for you!

Pilates is a safe, yet challenging and effective, way to firm and tone your entire body. Each area of your body is targeted to provide a comprehensive total body workout. Build long lean muscles and increase stamina without adding bulk to unwanted areas.

Pilates strengthens all of the muscles of the body without neglected the smaller postural muscles that many other workouts forget about! It realigns and improves your posture and brings balance back to the body.

Pilates encourages you to think about how you perform everyday movements. It heightens your body awareness which in turn improves your overall agility, flexibility and strength. It helps you ensure your body is working at its optimal level all the time.

Introductory session-
At Samsara we offer individual postural assessments and introductory sessions for Pilates. We have found that clients develop a far greater awareness and understanding of the method when taught in a one on one session rather than a group environment. The freedom to feel free to ask questions without the fear of holding up a class is a comment often made at these sessions and it also allows the instructor to familiarize themselves with the clients body and movement patterns. This session will adequately prepare most clients to join a Pilates 1 group class.

Pilates 1 - For those who understand the principles of Pilates and are competent at the basic and introductory exercises. Pilates 1 is a beginner to intermediate level class.

Pilates 1 advanced - Individuals who have mastered the Pilates 1 classes and are looking to further develop their Pilates repetoire are suitable for this class. We are working at a more advanced level.

Pilates 2 - For the advanced PIlates student. A dynamic, flowing and rhythmic class which challenges and invigorates those who attend.

At Studio Samsara classes are limited to 12 clients so that the necessary attention to detail and supervision can be given at all times. We also ensure that clients are placed in classes with others of similar levels of fitness to guarantee a productive, efficient and progressive lesson.
